The codpice was a lot easier than anticipated. I played with the idea of making a soft flixable one for a while but decided I wanted it to be able to hold it's shape better. I decided to use Sintra PVC again (See armor page) as it is easy to shape and work with. I drew a template on some thick paper, cut it out and checked it for a fit against myself. Once happy with the shape I traced it onto the PVC, cut it out with a utility knife and reshaped it in boiling water the same way I made the armor. After shaping the piece, hold it in place against yourself and walk around a little to make sure the edges don't rub on your thighs or any other part and trim as needed. Ok so you may look like a bit of a dork and get funny looks from your wife (Or husband) but you WILL be wearing this and walking around at conventions or parades etc.. so better to find out now if it rubs than later. Make sure you sand the edges and round off the corners a little as cut Sintra can leave sharp parts.

There is a "Cut Out" in the middle (As shown), I am not sure if it had a purpose, maybe it is a doorway for Vader to pee???

In order to make it padded, I used sticky backed craft foam which was really easy to stick on and trim. then I used faux leather from the fabric store to cover the entire piece. I used a great contact adhesive called Pliobond which holds nice and tight. I do reccommend using clamps overnight though as stretched leather actually has quite some pull and it will peel. I was left with a hole in the middle so simply glued some leather onto some card and glued it behind the hole.

I used more sticky back craft foam to line the inside and help hide the edges where the leather is glued and added straps bought from the craft dept at Walmart (Same ones as used for the chestbox) which are attached using very small bolts. TIP: You must use washers with the bolts as Sintra PVC can be quite soft and this will help prevent the bolts from being pulled through.

The resulting codpiece prop actually looks really good and is soft to the touch yet it is still rigid enough to hold it's shape and prevent the leather from wrinkling. It is also very comfortable to wear.
